Hope & Healing Breakfast

September 30th, 2010

Please join us on September 30th to celebrate the Children's Center's 7th annual Hope & Healing Breakfast. We are thrilled to announce that Governor Ted Kulongski will be joining us as our featured speaker with returning guest speaker, Steve Dunn of KATU Channel 2 News.

Funds raised at the Hope & Healing Breakfast open a door to healing for up to 100 of the abused children who will depend on the Children’s Center for help during the next 12 months.

If you are interested in participating at the 2010 breakfast as a sponsor, table host, or guest, please contact Shauna Lugar at shauna@childrenscenter.cc.

Champions for Children Women's Luncheon

Unsung Heroes
We celebrated the unsung heroes who make the hope of true healing possible for hurting children.

At the luncheon on May 12th, we were reminded by Dr. Wendy Bourg Ransford and Tracy Barry that we can all be unsung heroes in the life of a child. Every one of us can participate in protecting children to help make our community a safer place for families.

If you couldn't make it but want to learn more about how you can support vulnerable children in our community, please contact Shauna Lugar at shauna@childrenscenter.cc.

Child Abuse Awareness Month – April

In 1989, Bonnie Finney of Virginia tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her van. When asked about it, she told the tragic story of the abuse and resulting death of her grandson. Since then, millions of people across the country have participated in Blue Ribbon campaigns to remind people to prevent child abuse in their communities.

Here are some ideas:
  • Promote the blue ribbon campaign by distributing blue ribbon pins or other promotional material to elected officials and community leaders in Clackamas County.
  • Recruit area restaurants to participate in Child Abuse Prevention Month by donating a portion of their proceeds to the Children’s Center
  • Work with your local school district on an awareness drive including presentations and training on child abuse intervention and prevention by Children’s Center staff

Create Your Own Event to Benefit the Children’s Center

There are several ways you can help keep kids safe in our community:
  • Host a house party and introduce your circle of friends to the Children’s Center
  • Promote the Children’s Center during your employee giving campaign
  • Make the Children’s Center the beneficiary of your upcoming event
  • Invite the Children’s Center to speak at your civic club, church, business or other group setting

If you are interested in coordinating a fundraiser in your community, please print and return the Children’s Center Fundraising Guidelines form to Shauna Lugar via mail, fax, or email:
