Children’s Center Unveils New Signature Event to Recognize Child Abuse Prevention Advocate and Author Erin Merryn
OREGON CITY, OR – Children’s Center, the sole organization in Clackamas County providing comprehensive child abuse assessment and intervention services, is proud to announce the launch of a new signature event. Children’s Center Honors will debut on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at The World of Speed Museum (27490 SW 95th Ave, Wilsonville, OR 97070).
In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, this new event will unite caring professionals and community members throughout the region to celebrate the work of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the field of child abuse intervention and prevention.
Between 7:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., guests will be treated to a live program emceed by Children’s Center Executive Director, Tom Soma. Speakers include award recipients Erin Merryn, child abuse prevention advocate and creator of Erin’s Law (who will deliver the keynote address); William R. Swindells on behalf of William and the late Ann Swindells; and John Foote, Clackamas County District Attorney and Children’s Center Board Member.
“It is imperative that we continue to support, advocate, and stand united for children and caregivers who are having to relive the trauma of abuse,” Merryn said. “Children’s Center is a place where children and families begin the healing process. I’m truly honored to accept this award, and to capitalize on the opportunity it affords to educate concerned adults on their role in preventing child abuse.”
Children’s Center will also honor its first inductees to a new “Golden Lantern Society”.
The World of Speed’s exhibits will be open during the event, with docents available to answer questions. Honorees and sponsors will convene in the Atomic Lounge at 6pm for food, beverages, and the opportunity to meet Erin Merryn.
