Children’s Center Wins Top Medium-Sized Nonprofit to Work for in Oregon
Children’s Center of Clackamas County is a place where children and families come to begin their healing journey from abuse and neglect. It’s also a wonderful place to work. On Thursday, Oct. 5, 2018, Children’s Center was named Oregon’s top medium-sized (20-49 employees) nonprofit to work for at the “100 Best Nonprofits to work for in Oregon” celebration by Oregon Business magazine.
“What the Children’s Center team does each day — and more importantly, HOW they do it — with genuine care, concern, and consideration for each other and those they serve — are the reason we’ve been honored with this award. And it wouldn’t have been possible without a Board that is committed to and supportive of all of us,” said Executive Director Tom Soma.
For ten years, Oregon Business has gathered information from non-profit employees across the state on work conditions such as the flexibility to balance family, community and job obligations, opportunities to grow and stay challenged, and pride and belief in the organization. The final scores reflect the satisfaction rates of employees at the organization.
Sue Lewis is the Child Interviewer Supervisor at Children’s Center. “This is a special place to work due to the level of commitment and professionalism of all the staff, whether their specialty is working directly with the children and families or the community at large. The staff here are dedicated to the cause.”
Many other employees obviously agree with Sue. Despite the inherent challenges of the work, we hope Children’s Center remains a place employees enjoy coming to every day of the year — and for many years to come.
