Forensic Interviews

forensic interviews

A top priority for all child abuse intervention centers is to minimize the trauma of duplicative interviews for children. At Children’s Center, specially trained forensic interviewers provide developmentally-appropriate interviews for children in a safe and neutral environment. The forensic interviews are digitally recorded and observed by child protective services and law enforcement at the Center.

Forensic interviewers are specially trained in interviewing children and adolescents with open-ended and neutral questions. This allows the child to talk about what occurred in their own words. Additionally, the interviewer team adheres to the Oregon Interviewing Guidelines which includes instruction on child development, memory, disclosure process, and interviewing children with disabilities, among other topics. Each interview is tailored to each child’s developmental age and cognitive, social, and emotional abilities.
