Stewards of Children®

In partnership with The Ford Family Foundation’s Protect Our Children statewide program, Children’s Center is working to end child sexual abuse in Clackamas County by offering Darkness to Light’s research-informed Stewards of Children® prevention training. This nationally-recognized workshop teaches adults five practical steps to help prevent, recognize, and respond responsibly to sexual abuse.

With the help of the community, our goal is to train 5,000 adults in Clackamas County, helping us reach a tipping point in awareness and action on this important public health concern. Our team of bilingual and bicultural facilitators lead sessions in English every third Monday of the month at Children’s Center, and in English or Spanish by request throughout the county.

Stewards of Children®

Stewards of Children® is designed for any adult who cares for or about children. It is also an effective training for schools working to meet the adult requirements of Senate Bill 856 (Erin’s Law), which requires child sexual abuse prevention education for students, staff and parents every year. Participants also receive a Prevention Plan Workbook and may be eligible for continuing education credits.

What Will I Learn?

The video-based training led by Children’s Center’s bilingual team of certified Darkness to Light Facilitators uses survivor stories and experts in the field to present:

• Ways to intervene as a bystander or mandatory reporter
• Strategies and policies to help minimize risks at home, and in organizations and communities
